Ajax pays family of Nouri 7.85 million euros

The Dutch record champion Ajax Amsterdam has agreed with the family of Abdelhak Nouri on a compensation payment of 7.85 million euros. This confirmed the club on his homepage.

Noouri had a cardiac arrest in 2017 in a test match against Werder Bremen in Austria and in the episode of permanent brain damage suffered. Ajax acknowledged mistakes in medical care in the course and took responsibility for it.

“It’s good that an agreement has been reached so we can conclude this. We all know that the suffering for Abdelhak and his loved ones is not over yet. It remains a very sad situation,” said General Manager Edwin van der Sar.

Ajax has also refunded the costs for Nouris Care since 2017 and will continue to take over it. After the agreement, the procedure initiated by the family was discontinued before the Arbitration Committee of the Dutch Association KNVB.
